weekend #39

Oh I love three-day weekends...
As Hubs and I celebrated six years married on Sunday, we decided to take Monday off work and spend the day together and it was glorious. I wish every weekend was three days long; three days allows you the time to get shit done while still having fun and spending some quality time together!

We were up and about early on Saturday as this was the day we'd delegated to be productive...

We went into town and ran some errands, including fixing Hubs wedding ring which bent out of shape a few weeks ago when building the raised bed in the garden :) We also called into a Macmillan coffee morning being held by Tom's friend who fitted our wardrobes and kitchen breakfast bar last year...

Once home, we had a spot of lunch before commencing more chores, including cleaning, laundry and mowing the lawn, possibly for the last time this year...

We decided not to go out for an anniversary meal this week (we'll do that next weekend) so I made veggie tacos...

We then spent the night killing time and waiting until 1:30am...
...when we were fortunate to be on a rather exclusive invite list; we got to watch my beautiful blogging bestie, Kelly marry the move of her life, Ben, via Facebook Live. It was such a beautiful and heart-felt ceremony (the vows bought a tear to my eye) and I'm so thrilled that she was able to find a way for us to be a part of it. We would have so loved to have made it to Washington State for the big day, but it was not to be :( However, we didn't feel left out; I just wish we could have boogied the night away with her and her lovely friends and family!

Despite the late night, I was awake early on Sunday, so I left Tom sleeping, got up and had some breakfast.

Once Tom was awake, we exchanged cards and opened others from family...

Before heading over to my parents' house for a roast dinner, I cleared out the summer plants from my planters/tubs and planted up a spring bulb lasagne; this one contains irises, daffodils and crocuses.

After dinner, we took Izzy on a longgg walk...
...before calling in to Tom's mums for a catch up and a pizza supper. Tired from our long walk and our late night, we hot the hay pretty early...

...and enjoyed an alarm-free, lazy Monday morning; we chilled in front of the TV for a while watching crappy morning TV (mainly Homes Under The Hammer) and warmed up with a bowl of soup for lunch before heading out for a hand-in-hand stroll around a local reservoir...
Thankfully, the rain didn't spoil our day off work, but today has been the Mondayest-Tuesday for a long time!

Here's to a great week,

Fall Date Ideas

I'm over on Kelly's blog today (a day before she ties the knot) to share some ideas for autumn dates
to enjoy with your significant other...
Why not head over there and get some inspiration for the coming season (which is incidentally my favourite), and wish her a happy wedding day and subsequent marriage while you're there!

Happy Friday :)

weekend #38

Can you believe there are only 14 weekends left in 2016?!
I've noticed a trend developing in recent weeks; Saturdays are dull, grey and generally not nice weather-wise, while Sundays are sunny, warm and filled with blue skies - the kind of September days we all love; this weekend was no different...

On Saturday I was up and dressed before 9am because I was dropping Hubs off at the Scout hut (where he volunteers as an Assistant Scout Leader) so he could help set up for the family fun day they were having to raise much-needed funds for a new roof for the hut...

After dropping him off, I did the weekly food shop - Aldi before 10am on a Saturday sucks, just FYI. Once home I put the shopping away and enjoyed an easy breakfast of instant porridge and a cuppa, while catching up on some missed TV...

Around 1:30pm, I headed over to the family fun day to show my support...
...and discovered hubs on barbecue duty...
It was a great success and over £600 profit was raised, which might not be enough for a new roof, but it'll go a good way to getting the new roof fund started!

My evening was spent with this gorgeous lady..
...who's getting hitched next month. Along with 14 others, we enjoyed a delicious Indian meal, lots of great conversations and some magical entertainment :) The bride-to-be was in great spirits and I'm seriously looking forward to the wedding next month!

After a late night, Sunday started a little later and much more relaxed; I made a smoothie and got the roast dinner on for my parents' arrival at 1:30pm...
While the roast was cooking, I did some cleaning, two loads of laundry and had a shower.

With such glorious weather on Sunday afternoon, Hubs, mum and I took advantage and took Izzy on a two hour walk in beautiful September sunshine...

Izzy loved watching the ducks... and the bread we were feeding them!

After a sit down, cuppa and slice of cake, Tom got stuck in to cleaning the car, while I loaded the dishwasher and tidied up the kitchen...
After a spot of tea with the in-laws, we watched Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls for Stand Up To Cancer before collapsing into clean sheets, knackered from a busy weekend.

My weekends throughout the summer have been busy, occasionally too busy for my liking so I'm looking forward to a few more relaxed and quieter weekends as autumn rolls into winter. Autumn is my favourite time of year so I'm looking forward to spending afternoons outdoors and evenings curled up under a blanket next to the man I love in the home we've built together over this past year!
Have a great week!
