weekend #29

Some weekends really do pass in the blink of an eye.
This weekend we went away with friends; we didn't go anywhere exotic or fancy, but it was lovely to have a change of scenery and spend some time with two people we love dearly who we don't get to see as often as we'd like.

Later than we had intended, we set off on Saturday morning, and drove north through the rain...

We arrived at our destination for the weekend around 1pm and after checking in to our rooms, we headed to a nearby pub for lunch.

After lunch (in which the conversation was better than the food - for me, anyway), we headed back to the hotel and hit the spa area. We'd chosen this hotel, close to Manchester airport, because it was one of the few hotels with accommodation availability AND a sort-of spa on our chosen weekend; it had a lovely swimming pool, a well-equipped gym (not that any of us actually used it), a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna - the perfect ingredients for an afternoon relaxing.

We decided to find somewhere nicer than the previous mentioned pub to eat in the evening, and within five minutes' drive stumbled across a charming pub. The food was delicious (my starter of garlic & Stilton mushrooms was to. die. for!) and the service was superb. If you're ever in the area you should seriously check it out; a great night was had by all - and the boys weren't drunk at the end of it, which is exceptionally rare for these two!

After a early start for a Sunday thanks to a fire alarm, we filled our boots at the breakfast buffet then headed to a nearby retail park for a browse to kill some time, because at 1pm we were booked in for an hour's trampolining at Jump Nation Trampoline Park Manchester...
To say an hour's bouncing was tiring would be a severe understatement; I was knackered! It was so much fun though, although I would like to try an Adults Only session because some of the kids were crazy and I was nearly knocked out by one on a couple of occasions; they seriously have no fear and no regard for the safety rules! God, how old do I sound!

Suitably worn out, we grabbed a bite to eat in the Trafford Centre Food Court, before spending an hour or more browsing the shelves of Laura Ashley Home, BHS, HomeSense and Next Home - sadly, I didn't buy anything (which made Tom happy!). After hugs and kisses goodbye, we hopped back in the car and drove home, via Hub's mum's house.

I had a great weekend, but could do with a day off to recover!
