weekend #22

Another three-day weekend done... I'm gonna miss these!
Three-day weekends really are the best, especially when you spend them mostly sleeping, shopping and spending time with loved ones.

After falling asleep on the sofa on Friday night (as Hubs watched the footie), I was surprised to wake late on Saturday - who knew I needed so much sleep?! After a quick smootie for me and coffee for Hubs, we headed out to a local stone merchants to place an order for the materials we need to get our garden done, which will be started next weekend (and we're both stupidly excited about it)!
On the way home (which involved lots of country lanes and sunshine), we stopped off at a local shed builder/supplier to price up the kind of shed we want; we think we've found the one we want but didn't place an order as we need to take some measurements and it'll be a few weeks before we're ready for it yet, so we thought it'd be best to hold off a little (not only do we have to get the patio and shed base laid, we also need to paint the fence before erecting said shed)!

Once we were home, Hubs decided to tackle some of the weeds that have sprung up seemingly overnight, while I watched, from the comfort of a picnic blanket on the small section of grass we do have :)

After a while I decided I couldn't watch any longer and helped out, potting up some seedlings and clearing the spring bulbs from the pots. We've now got some sweet peas, sunflowers and strawberries potted up :)

That night I headed into Leicester to meet my bestie for dinner :)
Yes, this was as delicious as it looks!

Another late start on Sunday meant I only really had time to clean up and grab a shower before my parents arrived for our weekly roast dinner; we talked about their recent trip to Seville and our plans for the garden, amongst other things :)

After dinner, Hubs, mum, Izzy and I went for a walk...

I'm not quite sure what's going on but after my parents left, Hubs and I lazed around on the sofa for a while (I nearly fell asleep again!) but around 9pm we decided to watch American Hustle...
...which is an odd film; I'm not sure I liked it! Have you seen it?

Seriously, who needs this much sleep; I woke up about 10am but lazed in bed watching stuff on YouTube and Instastalking, getting up around 11:30am - I think I've regressed to being a teenager!

After some breakfast and a visit from Hubby's mum and step-dad, we headed for a browse around our local Go Outdoors, The Range and Currys/PC World, where Hubs treated us to a new laptop :)

I'll be glad to get back to work to get some routine back into my mornings!
How was your long weekend?

Living Room Tour

Since moving into our new build home in September 2015, I've only given you a full tour of our master bedroom
(although I did share some six-month progress pics), so today I thought it was time to show you a little more...
Since before we moved in I've had an idea of how I wanted to lay out our living space and bar a few things (such as finding the right armchairs and having the money to build a proper media centre) it's all come together as I imagined...

I love our walk-in bay window; it lets in so much light :)

This bookcase is recycled from our old home; it's an inexpensive MDF bookcase from Argos that I have hopes of replacing, but seeing as it's functional and not too offensive to look at, it stays (for the time being).

From the bay window you can see the whole living and dining area, and a little of the kitchen...
Another piece of recycled furniture that I hope to replace in the future is the green two-seater leather sofa (we wouldn't have enough seats for visitors if we got rid of it now). I want to buy either an armchair or a snuggle seat but have yet to find anything I like within my limited budget! I would also eventually love to have bi-folding doors added in-between the living and dining spaces, because I think it'll make the living room cosier in the winter months.

I adore this Laura Ashley lamp!

Our sofa is a four-seater from SCS; I was pretty heartbroken when I realised our old corner sofa wouldn't work in this new house, but this is a great replacement, especially when the foot stool is used too becuase it means both hubs and I can spread out and relax :)

I love these picture ledges from Ikea; I put a photo on Facebook and have had so many compliments, with a couple of friends wanting to know where they could get their own :) I think the ledges offer something different from a standard gallery wall (which I still love btw) as I'm able to chop and change the frames and pics inside much more easily than with a gallery wall.

Our TV sits opposite the sofa, to the left of the door from the hallway...

This is the wall where I would like to build a media centre in the future (the door on the right is the Harry Potter cupboard!)

This is the view of the living space from the dining table :)

I love our living area; I love how light it is and how things have developed and grown over the eight months of living here. I think the room has elements of the coastal look I wanted whilst not being too 'themed' and 'in ya face'. I can't wait to see how painting the walls changes the room...

weekend #21

Saturday was all about my father-in-law's wedding; we woke about 9am, had some breakfast and got dressed into our finery...

The ceremony was at 12noon at a local church, followed by the reception at a hotel just off Junction 28 of the M1 motorway...

Tom hasn't had the best relationship with his dad since his parents divorced when he was 13, so from that perspective it was an odd day, however the ceremony was lovely (and the food was delicious). I've never been to a wedding for an older couple before so it was nice to see the love in the air and the encouragement and support for the happy couple from everyone attending.

The evening do consisted of lots of drinking, more food, dancing, and messing about in the photo booth :)
We finally hit the hay around 1am.

After waking about 8am on Sunday morning, I crept downstairs...

...and spent the next few hours catching up on some recorded TV while Hubby slept.

Before nipping to Aldi to do the week's shop, we did a quick tidy round but spent most of the afternoon chilling on the sofa watching Step Up. On the way back from Aldi, we called in at McDonald's (I was hungry and Hubs was hungover)...

Before heading to Hub's mum's house, where we spent the next few hours talking (and watching the birds) in the conservatory.

After a shower and changing the sheets, we collapsed into bed!
