Things to be cheerful about

Did you know that today is supposed to be
the most depressing/miserable day of the year?
How cute is this sad kitty?!
Well, according to some experts it is, thanks to a combination of the gloomy, post-Christmas,
back-to-work-and-school funk we're all in, as well as the bad weather, debt and failed
New Year's Resolutions.

According to this website, Blue Monday (as it is affectionately named) is always the third Monday
in January, but it was reported earlier this month that Monday 6th January, when most people
returned to work, was Blue Monday, so I dunno about you but I'm confused!

When doing some Google research for this blog post (yes I do research; these blog posts aren't just
thrown together you know!), I came across Mental Health Research UK, who launched a campaign
in 2013 to raise awareness of mental health issues, in particular depression and Seasonal
Affective Disorder. Go here for more info. You an also make a voluntary donation to Mental
Health Research UK of £2 by texting BLOO22 to 70070.

Whenever Blue Monday actually is, I thought I would do my good deed for the day and
bring you these gems, which I hope will cheer you up and make your Monday less Monday-ish...

The cold weather and dark nights are the perfect excuse to put your PJs on as soon as
you get home from work and simply hibernate. Close the curtains and curl up with a
cup of hot chocolate and a good book, or snuggle up with the one you love in front of a
movie. No-one will expect you to go out partying (even the most hard-core partiers
chill out during January), so take the chance to relax and do naff all - you deserve it!

If you're still sticking with your New Year's Resolution, well fucking done!
You've managed a whopping 20 days so far - major props to you! You're well on your way
to making positive and lasting changes in your life and I for one applaud you! If you haven't
stuck to your Resolution, don't worry. Today is the perfect day to get back on that wagon!

Just think of all the money you're saving by not going out/eating chocolate/
drinking alcohol/buying lunch etc.

It's only 10.5 days (9.5 working days) until pay day!!

There are only 69 working days until the next break for everyone from work,
otherwise known as Easter!

As I mentioned here, it's actually getting lighter and lighter by the day,
so today, the 'day' last for 8 hours and 25 minutes but by pay day, the day will be
8 hours and 59 minutes, and you know what that means... yes, summer is on the way!

And just for me: It's only six days until Hubby's birthday :)

What are you happy/cheerful about today?
