White Britain

This may well be a long blog entry.

Since I posted photos of the snow early last week, it has only got colder and snowier, so I thought it was time to update you on the UK weather...

This was the view from my window at work on Friday lunchtime (18th January).
It had been snowing lightly all day but the consistent trickle of falling flakes meant that by lunchtime, it was really starting to settle.

This was the view down High Street as I left work to walk up to Hubby's work...
It's pretty isn't it?

We decided that because everyone had decided to leave work early and EVERY route out of the town centre was gridlocked, I would walk to him and we'd be stuck in the car, in the traffic, together (arrwww!). Usually, he drives the one mile from his work to me to pick me up and then we do the final two miles home together. Our usual 25-minute rush hour journey (which can take just 10 minutes outside of rush hour) took an hour and a half. However, my mum's usual 30-minute/5-mile journey took her FOUR HOURS! At least we had Radio 2 to keep us entertained - we were rocking to classics such as 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC and 'Dude Looks Like A Lady' by Aerosmith:
Hubby's best rock devil horns

On Sunday, we decided it was time to stop fighting the snow and just go with it, so we donned our wellies, waterproofs, hat (Hubby), earmuffs (me), scarves and gloves and went sledging; well, Hubby did - he is officially a big kid: 30-going-on-3!
This is Hubby with his new sledge :) ready and raring to go.

This is me, not so ready and raring to go. I decided I was too old to sledge so I stuck to being photographer/videographer - oh yes, there are videos :)

My mum and Izzy came too - Izzy loved it. We kept making snowballs and throwing them up in the air for her to catch; she caught a couple in her mouth and every time she looked very confused as to exactly where the ball had gone - bless her!
This is me and my mum, wrapped up warm from the cold :)

This is mum trying to push Hubby; the snow was too deep so he kept falling out.

As well as having to contend with deep snow which made him fall out of his new sledge, Izzy kept chasing and barking at Hubby as he rode down hills - it was so funny!

We spent about an hour and 15 minutes playing outside and I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Hubby or Izzy!

As I was taking photos on my iPhone,
I managed to capture a panoramic shot of the fields covered in the white stuff...

Everywhere was soooooo white; I don't think I've ever seen so much snow here in England, although I am only 28, so I missed the infamous winter of 1963, when even the sea froze!

All-in-all, a good afternoon was had by all, even mum who gets cold very easily :)

It's still snowing...

Photos taken approx. 5:45pm last night looking left then right down my street! More snowfall is expected today :(

The first snowfall of 2013...

I awoke from a deep slumber this Monday morning to see an inch of snow had fallen overnight; it looks so pretty when it first falls, but I really hate snow that's a couple of days old, all crunchy/icy and, more often than not, black from exhaust fines and other city pollution - it's disgusting!

It's lunchtime as I post this (from my iPhone - check me out with my modern tech) and it is still snowing: it's gonna make for a cosy night by the fire with my latest book - I'm reading 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' by Mitch Albom.

Day 366 - also known as Monday 31st December

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I painted my nails especially for the occasion and Leighton and Tom's Goddaughter, Orla (below), who we saw at Tom's Godmother's party/gathering, would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2013!!

So, there you have it, my final photo for 2012, all 366 days of it. I can't believe I actually did it. Although I was terrible at keeping this blog updated!! I've never stuck at a New Year's Resolution before, let's hope it's not the last time I stick to one either!!

Thank you to all those people who have dropped by my blog, for whatever reason; I hope you've enjoyed seeing what a year in my life is like. I plan to keep this blog going but obviously, it's purpose will change. As a writer by trade, I feel like I should post some of my writing here, but I dunno if I'm brave enough!

So, until next time,

Peace out bitches

xx

Day 365 - also known as Sunday 30th December

We watched two more Harry Potter movies today :) It's funny because I didn't expect Tom to enjoy them, but he's enjoying them as much as I am! We'll probably watch the final three (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2) in the New Year as it's New Year's Eve tomorrow!!

Day 364 - also known as Saturday 29th December

Tom & I didn't do much today; we just chilled out. We did watch Harry Potter though; we're steadily working our way through all the movies, then I'm gonna finish reading the books.

Day 363 - also known as Friday 28th December

I went into town today with my bestie to spend our Christmas money and treat ourselves; it was busy! I got a jumper, a bag, some earrings and some books!

Day 362 - also known as Thursday 27th December

Tom & I nipped to Fosse Park this afternoon, so I took the opportunity to stock up on some gifts for birthdays throughout the year - I like sale shopping!

Day 361 - also known as Wednesday 26th December

I had to re-do my nails today, so I used my French Manicure Set my sister-in-law bought me :)

Day 360 - also known as Tuesday 25th December or Christmas Day

Tom & I spent Christmas Day at my parent's house after opening our presents at home; above is my vegetarian Christmas dinner and below is Tom with his festive feast!

Day 359 - also known as Monday 24th December

Tom & I both had the day off work today, so we spent it chilling; Leighton popped round and I finally got to show him his personalised video from Santa (www.portablenorthpole.com), then later on, I put my pjs on and teamed them with my reindeer slippers to watch a film with my hubby :)

Day 358 - also known as Sunday 23rd December

TWO SLEEPS!!

Day 357 - also known as Saturday 22nd December

Festive Nails! This was much harder than it looks as I did it by hand, but it's worth it :)

Day 356 - also known as Friday 21st December

We exchanged Secret Santa presents at work today and this is what I got :) I love it, I love Fringe and I'm gonna enjoy reading this!

Day 355 - also known as Thursday 20th December

I made  vegetarian enchiladas for tea tonight :) they might look disgusting but they tasted yummy!

Day 354 - also known as Wednesday 19th December

It was my cousin's 30th birthday today, so we went for a family meal this evening. Above is Tom's phallic looking burger and below is my ice cream sundae, which was delicious!!

Day 353 - also known as Tuesday 18th December

I started my Christmas present wrapping tonight and finally finished making my home-made, personal tags (which Lucy and Tom helped me design and make too)!

Day 352 - also known as Monday 17th December

EEEKKK!! Look what came in the post for me today; it's an awesome cross-stitched Christmas card from my gorgeous pal Fiona - it's a festive Future!DeanWinchester and I love it!

Day 351 - also known as Sunday 16th December

I barely moved off the sofa today; this is me chilling with a pizza and Gilmore Girls on tv :)

Day 350 - also known as Saturday 15th December

Christmas Party Time; again I was feeling rough thanks to this horrid cold, so I was the designated driver, but a good and festive time was had by all :)

Day 349 - also known as Friday 14th December

I felt like utter crap today, so on my night out with the work girlies (minus Lucy who is puking her guts up thanks to the norovirus) instead of alcohol, I had a delicious hot chocolate, with plenty of marshmallows!

Day 348 - also known as Thursday 13th December

I will say, although I don't like the cold, I do like pretty scenes like this; this was Jack Frost's "kiss" on the passenger side car window this morning when I got in the car to come to work; it looks so pretty!

Day 347 - also known as Wednesday 12th December

Again, it was cold today! I don't like the cold!

Day 346 - also known as Tuesday 11th December

It was a horrible day today - this was the view for the majority of the day from my office :( roll on summer!

Day 345 - also known as Monday 10th December

I had another day off work today and Hubby and I ventured north to do a spot of festive shopping - we must be mad!

Day 344 - also known as Sunday 9th December

On my shopping trip to Loughborough yesterday, I bought this gorgeous bunting - I love it!

Day 343 - also known as Saturday 8th December

I went to a beauty shop today in nearby Loughborough, which Lucy recommended, and I bought loads: basecoat, Barry M nail polish, nail oil, nail art gems, a stamp set for nail art and a nail art silver pen - I can't wait to try it all out!
