Happy hump day, readers!
There's just one more week to go until Christmas Day!!

I don't know if you remember but last week I told you that Hubby and I had spent a lovely weekend
getting into the festive spirit; well, today is the day I bring you photos from the rest of our weekend
(consider this your warning, this post is longgggg!)...

Following on from visiting Great Taste's Festival of Food and Drink on Saturday, Sunday morning
was spent on a train, in first-class (ohhh, get us) travelling to the big smoke, aka London.

Once there, we headed to our hotel in Greenwich. Now, this is where I thought the weekend was about to become a disaster. The hotel we had booked to stay in allows you to check in on your day of arrival
from 2pm; we arrived at said hotel at 2:45pm and there were NO double rooms ready for us. Obviously,
I was not impressed, so I expressed my disgust at not being able to check in properly and made a formal
complaint. We decided however, to leave our bags in the hotel's luggage room and go out to explore.

We wandered into Greenwich town and on to Greenwich Park, where we admired some
stunning views of 'Landan Tawn' (do you like my accent, lol)...
Which landmarks can you spot?
You should be able to see the O2 Arena (previously known as The Millennium Dome), the Docklands
aka Canary Wharf, Old Royal Naval College, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Power Station,
the sails of the Cutty Sark and Westminster in the distance.

We spotted this awesome VW as we were wandering around - someone's really in the Christmas spirit!

The Cutty Sark and surrounding area...

We headed back to the hotel to freshen up and check in properly (at which point we were
compensated with free breakfast the following day - not too shabby, I say). After a rest and freshen
up, we found a Wetherspoons pub and met up with a friend who lives in London for some food,
a few drinks and a long-overdue catch up.

Monday started with our free brekkie...
Sorry for the crappy phone photo!
After filling our bellies, we headed out to South Bank (via Canary Wharf),
as I'd heard about this great book market.
The view across the Thames from South Bank
Despite buying one book, I was a little disappointed - I thought it'd be a bigger market :(

Then it was time to head to Oxford Street to soak up the manic festive shopping atmosphere...

Selfridges window displays...

After making our way through the crowds, it was time to leave Oxford Street behind us,
cross by Marble Arch and head to Hyde Park (unfortunately, it wasn't named after us) for
Winter Wonderland! You can find out more about Winter Wonderland 2013 here.

Now, for another lengthy photo dump...

I'm so proud of both of us. We didn't fall over, not even once, and we actually did a few laps of the rink
without stopping or holding on to the sides. This really was a great way to spend an hour!

German Beer!
Hot Spiced Cider!

That's it! You've finally reached the end of this mammoth post - if you made it this far, you deserve a lay down! Thanks for reading/looking! Don't forget to come back in two days time for a
special, festive edition of Word Vomit Friday!
