When I Grow Up...
Another photo of my nephew Leighton today - this is him a few hours ago wearing Hubby's trainers! He's so cute; not long after this he put my Ugg boots on! He loves wearing shoes that he knows are way too big for him :) He's not even two and a half yet but he's soooo grown up, he's a proper little boy now - where did that tiny baby go?!

Sorry it's late today guys but I'm sure you can forgive me - just got in from a night out to celebrate Hubby's 30th - it was a total surprise for him and as you can tell from this photo, he loved it! We had a lovely 3-course meal and then danced the night away, much of it on the tables and chairs, to an all-decades disco. Both of us had a great night with friends and family and will no doubt feel much older than our 30 years and 27 years tomorrow. So, goodnight all x

I hate ironing but I managed to get some done tonight. It's actually pretty easy to stick on a DVD and iron for an hour or two but it's hard to find the motivation to do it some nights. It seems to be the one job Hubby and I haven't yet sorted out after four years living together - the cooking, washing up, hoovering, all divided up but the ironing... well both of us hate it. If only I could afford to pay someone to do it for me?!

I love it when the sky does something so unexpected like this. I took this photo from the window at work today at about 4:30 this afternoon - the photo above has an Instagram filter on it which I think brings out the real beauty of the sky, especially in comparison to the almost-silhouette city scape. Here's the original for anyone that wants to see it/compare it...
Beautiful isn't it?!

This is Izzy going crazy in the fields near my parents house. We went round theirs for a Sunday roast today and then took her for a walk around the fields - we took her a bit late so we ended the walk in the dark but it was good - there's some awesome views of the city from the hills. There were a few spots of frost still lingering and the wind was bitterly cold but it's so pretty round there that the cold and frost are worth it. I also got to dirty up my wellies again :)

You Are My Sunshine...
Hubby & I walked to Aldi today to get a few bits and as we were walking back through the park I took this photo - I love sunsets. I'm never awake early enough to see sunrises though :) I can't wait for the lighter nights to return, along with the warmer weather. Winter is my least favourite season but at least it's preceded by my favourite (autumn) and followed by my second favourite (spring)! I get excited when I start to see leaf buds and flower shoots, as well as hear an increase in birdsong - it means the cold weather is on the way out and the summer is on the way. In fact, I think there's only about 10 weeks until the clocks go forward - yay!

I finally got my new glasses today, do you like? I got my eyes tested on December 29th 2011 and have only just got my glasses today! There not too different from my old ones, esp in this photo but I can assure you, they are new - I no longer have to squint to see things that are far away :)

So I actually made it to pole dancing this Thursday - it was my first week since the start of November and man did I feel it. Obviously I'm never going to post a photo of myself pole dancing, so you get a photo of the logo on the wall. I did take a shot of the studio but there were too many people, so I'll take a better one another week. I can already feel my legs, arms and stomach muscles aching so god only knows how I'll feel tomorrow - oh well, it's Friday!

Ahhh a lovely cuppa!
I need this today! I can't share much with you about how I've spent my day but all I will say is that Hubby will either love me more or divorce me on the 26th - his 30th birthday! If I tell you any more, I'll have to kill you :) so I'll say goodnight and I promise to tell more when I can!
OK, so this obviously isn't a photo but I wanted to share these awesome photo blogs that I found with y'all:
- http://www.dicksdaily.co.uk/dd5/index2.php - this dude has managed to post a photo a day for the last 10 years, 3 months and 23 days, although his last photo was uploaded on 23rd December 2011 so I guess he's kinda given up, or got too busy!
- http://dearphotograph.com/ - awesome blog when people send in their memories
- http://365x50.com/ - photos taken using only a 50mm lens
Also, if you ever want cheering up, check out http://rhodeside.vuxe.com/ she's awesome and offers some really funny opinions on life :)

No, I've not gone mad, I thought, today, I'd share with you my new shampoo - I bought it from my local Boots (other good stockists are available) at lunchtime as it was on offer: £1.89 for a big bottle! I like trying new shampoo/conditioner so I thought I'd give this a go. I've washed my hair with it but as it's still drying, I'll let you know whether it's any good tomorrow - it does smell nice though :)

So, this is Leighton, my two-year-old nephew; I spent some time with him this afternoon at my in-laws and he amazes me more every time I see him. For example, today, Hubby took two tents to his mum to see if she could fix them - my sewing skills stretch as far as sewing up a hole or sewing on a badge - so Leighton asked me what they were and when I told him he asked "I sleep in tent?" I mean, how'd he know that you sleep in tents! We had to tell him he could sleep in them once 'mom-ma' had fixed them, so he then ran from the conservatory to the living room shouting "Sleeping in tent"; he cracks me up!
This photo was taken about 10 mins after the above, when he had his 'tiggy' and his 'ilk' and kept saying "nan night 'aura".

So I thought it was about time I introduced you to Izzy, my parents 1-year-old border collie. Here she is on our walk today trying to make friends with some fearless ducks and two wussy swans.
This is what she looks like when she's looking at you:
Isn't she gorgeous?! She's come so far since mum & dad got her just under a year ago, she'd been born and raised for the first few months of her life on a farm, so didn't really have any training. Now, she comes back when you call/whistle, she sits, she lies down, she gives you her paw and she even high-fives! She's also been going to agility lessons and, from what mum tells me, she's doing well, that is, when she can be bothered! It seems she can be a moody and unpredictable teenager on occasion :) I'm sure this isn't the last time this year that you'll see a photo of Izzy.

Thank God it's finally Friday!
I've spent most of the day doing two things: thinking of a photo to take to share with you and thinking about my favourite TV show returning tonight after a month-long break for Christmas/New Year, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: gushing about my fave show AND posting something for Day 6.
The TV show in question is Supernatural - I'm not gonna try and explain it to you if you haven't see it but I highly recommend giving The Pilot a go (try www.sidereel.com and search Supernatural) even if it is about 7 years old - and season 7 is shaping up to be awesome, even if the mid-season cliffhanger involved the probable death of one of my favourite characters (RIP Bobby Singer). It's not on until 2am UK time (9pm East Coast of America time) and I have to Livestream it online, so I'll be up late tonight, as I have been almost every Friday since season 7 started on September 23rd 2011, but its well worth it!

I was gonna take a photo of a pole dancing studio as I often go to pole dancing lessons on a Thursday evening from 7pm until 8:30pm with a friend, for the purpose of exercise obviously - I'm not looking to change careers! However, as my friend is off to Centre Parcs tomorrow and has lots to get organised, she said she couldn't make it; well that was the excuse I needed not to go and to get an early night instead.
So, goodnight, sweet dreams!

The first photo is of my lunch - homemade vegetable soup - while the second is my tea - cheesy omelette and chips. I haven't had either for a while, so I feel like I had a real treat food-wise today :)
I went through a phase of making soup regularly as the autumn turned to winter last year but then I got out of the habit, however it's always really satisfying to have homemade soup for lunch at work so I'm gonna try and get back into it again - I managed to get 3 portions from the saucepan I made last night so I can have it again for lunch this week.
As for the omelette, I honestly can't remember the last time I had one. I don't really by eggs that often even though they're easy to cook, so this was yummy!
I hope you enjoyed some yummy food today!

Back to work today.
First day back for 10 days and it was hard work. Hard to get back into the mode of writing to promote the best aspects of a business, as well as writing at the pace necessary to meet my print deadline on Friday - fingers crossed I get everything done. I've got two magazines going to print this week: Aspire, which is weekly, going out around Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, and Reflect, which is fortnightly and distributes around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
I spent my day writing about a whisky shop in Lincoln and a self-catering holiday home in Scotland, as well as trying to find some press releases to fill the nine Aspire pages and seven Reflect pages that the sales teams hadn't sold; it wasn't too taxing but my brain's fried after 10 days of doing nothing!

So, my second day of 2012 will be spent cleaning my house and getting read to go back to work tomorrow. The Christmas decorations are already down and now I've just gotta tidy up, polish, hoover and iron my work clothes for the week. I'll be glad to get back to normal, although the house does look a little bare without all the decorations. It's amazing how fast a week off can go and just how untidy your house can get, even if you're not in it for most of the week!

Although hubby and I didn't venture out for New Year's Eve this year (there was no way we were gonna top NYE 2010 when we were on our honeymoon in Sydney), we took a walk today with my parents and their dog Izzy (who I'm sure you'll meet at some point)! We had a lovely walk through Jubilee Woods near Loughborough, followed by a delicious tea at my parents house, which mostly consisted of all the left over food that hadn't been opened/used from Christmas. It was a great start to the new year!
Hi there. Firstly, Happy New Year. It's 01.01.2012 and my New Year's Resolution is to take a photo a day, capturing a moment in time, of my life over the next 12 months.
I know I already have a few exciting things lined up for this year, including, but not limited to: my hubby's 30th birthday in January, my youngest cousin's 18th birthday in February, a NKOTBSB gig in April and meeting Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins (from TV series Supernatural) at a fan convention in May.
I'm sure photos from these things will make it onto this blog but my main aim is to find something photo-worthy on each and every day - this blog will track and record my progress. I hope you enjoy learning a little more about me and the things I get up to!
